My maternal aunt, Vincia Mize married Al Hale in 1948, the year that I was born. Vincia was one of my favorite people. She laughed often and loved her husband dearly.
When I became of the age to look for love I asked Vincia, “How do you know?” She replied, “When he walks in the room, your eyes will catch fire and your face will break out with a smile.”
“Does that feeling last long?” I asked. “If you truly love him, it will last forever,” she replied. “When Al walks into the room, even now, my eyes are afire, and my face is grinning.”
